Web site Hyperallergic.com has an article about how Cantor Art Center at Stanford University recently acquired 29 sketch books from Bay area artist Richard Diebenkorn, and they plan on displaying them starting in September. I love Richard Diebenkorn's work and think this is an opportunity to get into his head and see his process. It's a lifetime of sketches and paintings that track Diebenkorn's evolution as an artist, going from figurative to abstractions. The books show snapshots into his life with musings, and gestural sketches.

Diebenkorn was a graduate of Stanford University. These books join their existing collection of finished works. The sketch books give us a glimpse of the processes used to get to this finished pieces. The show at the Cantor Art Center opens September 9 and runs through February 8, 2016.
